Within the framework of the French strategy "AI for humanity" and the German strategy "KI made in Germany", France and Germany wish to intensify exchanges in artificial intelligence research. The Science and Technology Department of the French Embassy in Germany (SST) and Inria, as coordinator of the research component of the national Artificial Intelligence plan, are jointly launching two calls for projects to support mobility and finance the organisation of events.
Mobility grants between France and Germany
The call for Mobility projects aims to support the mobility of doctoral and post-doctoral researcherss and junior researchers between France and Germany by funding mobility grants.
The mobility grants will finance a stay of a maximum of three months. The research stay must have been carried out before 31 December 2019.
Eligible candidates are doctoral researchers, post-doctoral fellows and junior researchers (maximum 7 years after their PhD), members of laboratories attached to higher education institutions or research organisations in France or Germany.
Applications should be sent to ai_procope_call_researchstays@inria.fr and should include:
- a CV (1 page A4, PDF file) which develops in particular the research experience.
- a cover letter with a brief description of the research project, the value of the exchange for the laboratories involved (collaboration, co-publishing), the start date and duration of the study.
- a letter of invitation from the host laboratory signed by the head of the host laboratory and the legal representative of the host institution (stamp also required).
- a letter from the French institution receiving the funds (in case it is not the host institution).

Support for the organisation of conferences and working meetings
The call for projects Organisation of events is addressed to organisers of conferences and scientific events: its objective is to develop meetings between researchers from both countries but also between researchers and partners, academics and industrialists.
For this call, here are the eligible meetings or events:
- a scientific conference/meeting with identified partners from France and Germany, and possibly other European Union countries.
- a joint Franco-German laboratory project such as LIA, IRN, UMI.
This call for applications is open to teams from higher education institutions or research organisations in France or Germany. The meeting or event must be organised during 2019 either in France or Germany.
Applications should be sent to ai_procope_call_eventsorganisation@inria.fr and will include:
- a cover letter
- a description of the event (maximum 2 pages) specifying the objectives of the cooperation
- the preliminary program of the event with the planned date
- a summary sheet (to be downloaded from this page) signed by the institution's legal representative
- the estimated budget and the requested subsidy
