A computer science engineer from the engineering school INSA Rennes and with a DEA (post-graduate degree) in computer science, Christine Morin obtained her PhD and her accreditation to supervise research from the University of Rennes 1 in 1990 and 1998 respectively. She has been a researcher at the Inria Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique centre since 1991. She occupied the position of senior lecturer on secondment at the University of Rennes 1 for two years from 2000 until 2002 and returned to Inria as research director in 2002. From January 2010, Christine Morin was head of the Myriads team (a joint Inria project team with the University of Rennes 1, INSA Rennes, the CNRS and ENS Rennes at IRISA - the Research Institute of Computer Science and Random Systems), which studies the design and implementation of autonomous distributed systems. A specialist in operating systems and distributed systems, she has worked on the design and development of distributed operating systems for large distributed computing infrastructures by focusing on fault tolerance, resource management and, more recently, on the security of these systems.  Christine Morin has supervised 24 theses. Her research work has led to over 120 publications in international journals and conferences as well as to the development of several systems for cluster computing, grid computing and distributed clouds in the form of open source software. In 2006, she co-founded the start-up Kerlabs to develop the Kerrighed operating system resulting from her research on cluster computing.

Throughout her career, she has been strongly involved in European and international collaborations. In particular, she coordinated two major European projects - XtreemOS in the field of grid computing between 2006 and 2010, and Contrail in the field of cloud computing between 2010 and 2014.  Her involvement in the European Research Area was rewarded by theÉtoile de l'Europeprize in 2014.  On an international level, she has led three associate teams with research teams in the United States and has been involved in numerous other collaborations in North America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.  She was scientific head of the Inria international laboratory Inria@SiliconValley from September 2011 to August 2013, during which time she was welcomed as a visiting researcher within the Data Science and Technology du Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Christine Morin has been a member of the ENS Cachan scientific council. She has been a member of the board of directors of the University of Rennes 1 since 2016. Christine Morin is a Knight of France's National Order of Merit and Knight of the French Legion of Honour.
