You recently won an ANR Young Researchers award, could you tell us a bit about this programme? 

The ANR Young Researchers programme grants funding to young researchers for projects for up to 4 years. 

What is your research project?

Our project is called ADAPT (Adaptive Dynamical Approximation via Parallel Tensor methods). The aim of this project is to devise new methods and algorithms for handling large quantities of data and to achieve solutions for higher dimension problems.  Such problems can be found in various scientific fields, from engineering to economics.

A great deal of research has gone into tensor-based methods, and so for our project the aim is to contribute to the wider scientific discussion by focusing on two obstacles: the capacity to adapt analysis based on precise criteria relevant to realistic applications, and the effective parallelisation of these methods, something which is of vital importance when it comes to processing large quantities of data. 

This project is a collaboration between three Inria teams, the COMMEDIA team (still in appraisal phase), the MATHERIALS team and the ALPINES team, along with the CEREMADE laboratory (Paris Dauphine University).

What is your research project?

The project is a team effort and is the result of work that began three years ago. This award will give us the opportunity to pursue this collaboration and to explore possibilities that we didn't have the chance to previously, while also giving us access to more funding for our research.
