Roberto started his engineering career in Argentina, where he is originally from, in the field of analysis and design of embedded systems for industry and agriculture. After arriving in France in 2007, he taught computer science for 4 years at the Lycée Victor Hélène Bach in Rennes, in the BTS Informatique et Réseaux.
In 2016, he joined IMT Atlantique (Rennes campus) as an R&D engineer, contributing to the work of the OCIF team at IRISA and IRIS at LABSTICC.
In 2020, he joined the Inria centre at the University of Rennes as a research engineer and project leader of the AgriBIoT start-up project. Roberto was a specialist in communication protocols for the Internet of Things and embedded systems. The project offers farmers an innovative solution for data management using RFID tags, which is another step towards traceability.
On the AgriBIoT project, Roberto collaborated with Simon Tropee, Inria engineer; Paul Couderc and Jean-Marie Bonnin, researchers in the Ease team; and Ahmed Bouabdallah and Loutfi NUAYMI, professors at IMT Atlantique.
Roberto passed away this weekend at the age of 57. We have a special thought for his partner, his children, his family and his close friends in this difficult time.
