Jean-Philippe Lagrange

Jean-Philippe Lagrange is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and holds a PhD in applied mathematics and information sciences from the University of Paris-Dauphine (Ceremade), obtained mainly at EDF R&D. Jean-Philippe Lagrange began his career as a researcher and then as a laboratory manager at the French National Institute for Geographic and Forestry Information (IGN). He was then appointed head of a unit in the research department of the French Armament Procurement Agency (DGA), before becoming the IGN's international director in 2000. He then became scientific attaché in Washington. For the past 15 years, he has held research management positions successively at IGN, Cerema and Institut Mines Telecom (IMT).

As director of research at ITM, Jean-Philippe Lagrange developed and led the scientific strategy of the Institute. He worked with the players in the ESR ecosystem (ministries, academic partners, agencies, conferences, research alliances, universities and schools) to implement the strategic orientations, promote collaboration between the various disciplines and encourage cutting-edge research in the fields of digital, engineering sciences (materials, processes, energy, etc.) and SHS (management, economics, etc.). It has led the development of scientific roadmaps for national communities (ITM or beyond, within the Allistène framework), contributed to strengthening ITM's presence in major national (including PEPR and more broadly France 2030), European and international collaborative R&I programs, and with higher education and research stakeholders.

In addition to his research and management activities, Jean-Philippe Lagrange has been involved in teaching and training young scientists. He has also contributed to the organization of national and European conferences and is a member of several international scientific committees.

Jean-Philippe Lagrange succeeds Bruno Lévy, who is now Inria's project manager for France 2030.
