The talks:
Talk given by Nicolas Roussel, Director of the Inria Bordeaux-South-West research centre
From 4 to 6 pm in the auditorium
From the creation of artificial intelligence to the applications that now shape our everyday lives, Nicolas Roussel will review the essence of AI, presenting its history and questioning its place in society. He will introduce the concept of machine learning to try and give better understanding of the digital transformation that is impacting our personal and professional lives.
Talk given by Damien Robert, researcher and member of the LFANT project team
From 4 to 6 pm in the "Espace Actualité"
After giving an overview of the historic context of cryptology, the science of secrecy, Damien Robert will present its three modern principles: encryption, authentication and integrity. Bitcoin, electronic voting, the cloud: just some of the applications that we all know, but what lies behind them? The talk will offer insights into the challenges facing this discipline (possible attacks, proof of security) and the vulnerability of current protocols.
Talk given by Martin Hachet, director of research and head of the project team POTIOC, and Cécile Léna, a visual artist.
What could be more mysterious, or more thrilling, for that matter, than the sky, space, the universe? The team from the “Échelles célestes” (‘Celestial ladders’) project have designed an interactive art installation enabling the public to immerse themselves fully in this world. Using a visualisation tool made possible through virtual/augmented reality, this miniature planetarium is designed to get closer to the infinitely vast. At this round table, Martin Hachet and Cécile Léna will explain the origins of their art and science project, going over the techniques used to get it up and running.
