The start-up, specialised in data acquisition systems in the field and based in Villeurbanne, has announced the sale of its 'sensor' activity and the Hikob brand to the Swedish group TagMaster. This group, which is listed on the Stockholm stock exchange, is the European leader in the manufacture of advanced traffic sensors for smart cities. Hikob will nonetheless continue its IoT services and solutions activity (connected objects), which represented 45% of its turnover, under the new entity Sequanta.
Co-founded in 2011 by Guillaume Chelius and Antoine Fraboulet, former Inria researchers at the Grenoble-Rhône-Alpes centre, Hikob develops and commercialises wireless vehicle detection systems, providing the real-time data necessary for parking management or the regulation of urban traffic, and the platform-based Sentinel services enabling the integration of IoT technologies in new OEM products.
In 2017, the company achieved a turnover of 1.72 million Euros - an increase of 25% compared to 2016.
