Since April 1st 2018, Éric Fleury is Director of Inria Paris Centre.
Holder of a PhD in computer science (ENS Lyon, 1996) and an habilitation thesis (INSA, 2002), Éric Fleury has been a Professor in the Computer Science Department at ENS Lyon since 2007. From 2012 to 2017, he was Deputy Head of Science at Inria Grenoble - Rhône-Alpes Research Centre. He also led the joint project team DANTE, in partnership with the CNRS, Université Claude Bernard (Lyon 1) and ENS Lyon. Éric Fleury has been a member of the Board of IXXI (Rhône-Alpes Complex Systems Institute) and a member of the MILYON Labex Executive Committee.
His research focuses on Network Science and modelling large-scale dynamic networks (e.g. social networks and sensor networks), as well as on analysing information spreading processes within such networks. The "i-Bird" experiment, carried out as part of the European MOSAR project, for which Eric Fleury acted as advisor for Inria, recorded the contact dynamics between staff and patients in a hospital to analyse how the bacteria that cause nosocomial diseases are spread. Éric Fleury managed the Future Internet of Things platform (FIT IoT-LAB), an Equipex experimental facility made up of wireless communication and sensor networks, designed to experiment on communicating objects and the Internet of Things.
He is a Knight of the Order of Merit (2016) and Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour (2021).
